BBC Tour!

On Thursday 16th June we went to visit the BBC! We were taken on a tour around the building, seeing the real Dr Who Tardis and Prank Patrol vehicle that were placed outside. First we were told about BBC news which was very interesting and then taken into an empty studio room, which was hired out for shows such as 8 out of 10 cats and The Marriage Reff, which were both in the process of being filmed while we were taken on our tour.

Later we were taken into one of the dressing rooms in which stars and guests were given while they prepared for the show or appearance. It was really interesting how the tour guides told us about the ‘diva’ demands that celebrities asked for, such as Mariah Carrey asking for a basket of puppies!

Seeing how the weather was done in front of the blue screen was another highlight of the day. We all had a go at being on the screen, and it was demonstrated how weather presenters couldn’t wear the color blue, unless they wanted to be a floating head while they gave the weather forecast.

At the end of the tour, we were taken into an interactive studio. Hatty and Racheal presented the news and some others took part in a game show which was also very enjoyable and amusing. Holly won the game show in the end with her prize being a BBC book.

After our tour we went for meal at the spaghetti house in Westfield where we were lucky enough to meet Ade Adepitan, a paralympic basketball player and television presenter for BBC.
